Well respected Liverpool-based journalist of The Times Paul Joyce says Liverpool Football Club are ready to break their transfer record for the right player this summer.
Asked how much Liverpool will spend this summer, talking on his Times webchat, Paul Joyce said:

“Very difficult to put an exact figure on it, but Liverpool would be prepared to smash their transfer record for the right player. Whether they are able to do so remains to be seen. Lots of clubs will want a centre-half this summer and there are only so many to go around – van Dijk, Koulibaly, Bonucci, Keane.”
Liverpool’s current transfer record is £35m when they splashed the cash on the former Newcastle striker Andy Carroll as a replacement for Fernando Torres who had joined Chelsea that January.
Paul Joyce also says he expects Liverpool to sign the highly-rated Fulham youngster Ryan Sessegnon as cover for James MIlner when the transfer window opens.
